Supreme Court To Consider "Light" Cigarettes Case

Law360, New York (January 18, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- The U.S. Supreme Court agreed to hear an appeal brought by Altria Group Inc. that could clear up lower court conflicts over whether tobacco companies can be sued for deceptive marketing claims under state laws.

The justices will consider Altria's bid to block a ruling by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit in August that allowed a lawsuit in Maine to go forward.
