China Signs On To Use EU, US Global Patent Search System

Law360, New York (June 4, 2013, 2:00 PM EDT) -- China’s State Intellectual Property Office has signed on to use the joint patent classification system created by the U.S. and European patent offices, providing greater access to its patent applications starting next January through inclusion in the database, the European Patent Office announced Tuesday.

China’s SIPO has signed a memorandum of understanding with the EPO, under which it will start classifying its newly published invention patent applications in certain selected technical fields into the Cooperative Patent Classification system, launched by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office...
