J&J Issues Global Recall Of Cilest Birth Control Pills

Law360, New York (June 4, 2013, 5:37 PM EDT) -- Johnson & Johnson is recalling 32 million packages of birth control pills sold outside of the U.S. because the drug releases an active ingredient too slowly, the company said Tuesday, marking the latest in a string of callbacks for the drugmaker.

The voluntary recall includes 179 batches of the oral contraceptive Cilest in 43 countries. An ingredient "is releasing slower than is required by the defined product specification," according to Johnson & Johnson.
