AHA Wants More Time For ACA Tax-Exempt Rule Compliance

Law360, New York (June 5, 2013, 2:35 PM EDT) -- The American Hospital Association said Monday that a newly proposed federal rule vastly underestimates the amount of time and resources charitable hospitals will need to adopt new Affordable Care Act requirements for maintaining tax-exempt status.

The Internal Revenue Service's proposal states that hospitals will only need 80 hours to comply with information collection requirements, but the AHA claims in a letter to the Office of Management and Budget it will take more than 1,000 hours to complete the new tasks.
