ITC Will Examine Windshield Wiper Maker's Patent Claims

Law360, New York (June 6, 2013, 2:17 PM EDT) -- The U.S. International Trade Commission said Wednesday that it will investigate Federal-Mogul Corp.'s claims that specially-designed windshield wipers imported by competitor Trico Corp. infringe its patent for a wiper with a spoiler preventing the blade from being pushed up by wind resistance.

Michigan-based Federal-Mogul filed a May 9 complaint with the commission saying Trico, of Rochester Hills, Mich., violated Section 337 of the 1930 Tariff Act by importing flat-blade and beam-blade wipers from Mexico that infringe its patent.
