Kinder Morgan Fined Over Waste, Oil Leakage At 4 Well Sites

Law360, New York (June 7, 2013, 3:18 PM EDT) -- Energy giant Kinder Morgan Inc. has agreed to pay $220,000 in fines from the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission for improperly storing drilling waste and violating reporting requirements for spills at four well sites, the commission said Friday.

Exploration and production waste materials like drill cuttings were piled up when they should have been contained or immediately cleaned up, according to the COGCC. The commission said its inspectors also found soil staining from leaching fluids at the sites.
