EU Steel 'Action Plan' Includes Tough Trade Talk

Law360, New York (June 11, 2013, 4:12 PM EDT) -- The European Commission released a so-called action plan Tuesday to help boost demand for the hurting European steel industry, including a renewed focus on foreign trade practices that the EC says are harming Europe's steelmakers.

Facing demand that is 27 percent lower than levels prior to the financial crisis and and a 10 percent decrease in jobs between 2007 and 2011, the commission's plan would introduce numerous policy initiatives that it said were aimed at “fostering innovation” and “creating growth and jobs.”
