Cadbury Reported Chocolate Cartel, Canadian Agency Says

Law360, New York (June 11, 2013, 6:20 PM EDT) -- Cadbury Adams Canada Inc. was the first to provide information to Canada's Competition Bureau about alleged price-fixing on chocolate products, the agency confirmed Tuesday, days after it announced criminal cartel charges against Nestle Canada Inc., Mars Canada Inc. and a food distributor network.

Canada's antitrust watchdog learned of an alleged cartel among chocolate makers after the Canadian Cadbury unit came forward and applied for immunity from prosecution, Gabrielle Tasse, a spokeswoman for the Canadian Competition Bureau, told Law360 on Tuesday.
