Law360, New York (June 12, 2013, 6:22 PM EDT) -- On June 11, 2013, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board issued the first final written decision under the America Invents Act’s Transitional Program for Covered Business Methods (covered business method review) in SAP America Inc. v. Versata Dev. Group Inc.

The PTAB established that the broadest reasonable claim interpretation standard applies to post-issuance challenge proceedings under the AIA, including covered business method reviews.
