House Committee OKs Bills To Expand Oil Drilling

Law360, New York (June 12, 2013, 10:53 PM EDT) -- The House Natural Resources Committee has greenlighted three energy bills that would expand offshore oil and gas drilling and maintain energy production in federal lands in Alaska, the committee said Wednesday.

The Offshore Energy and Jobs Act, introduced by committee chairman Doc Hastings, R-Wash., expands offshore oil and gas drilling in Atlantic and Pacific coastal areas. The bill pushes back against the Obama administration’s five-year offshore lease plan released in June 2012, which shuts off 85 percent of America’s offshore areas to energy production, according to...
