EU Proposes Reviews Of Nuclear Plants Every 6 Years

Law360, New York (June 13, 2013, 1:36 PM EDT) -- The European Commission proposed Thursday that the safety of nuclear power plants should be reviewed every six years by EU-wide teams, part of changes recommended following the 2006 Fukushima disaster in Japan.

The draft proposal recommends that member states review the safety of their nuclear facilities every 10 years and that every six years they identify safety topics at their nuclear facilities to be "peer reviewed" by other member states.
