Big Dig Consultants To Cough Up $458M

Law360, New York (January 23, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- A consortium of Big Dig management consultants has agreed to pay more than $407 million, three times its profit margin, to resolve criminal and civil liabilities related to the Massachusetts highway construction project, federal and state authorities announced Wednesday.

Design consultants for the turbulent road-and-tunnel project will pay an additional $51 million.

Most of the $458 million will be collected in a trust fund to cover nonroutine repairs and future maintenance for the project, officially known as the Central Artery/Tunnel Project.
