Statoil Defends Priority Status At Cove Point LNG Terminal

Law360, New York (June 14, 2013, 7:14 PM EDT) -- A unit of Statoil ASA on Friday urged the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to reject a motion by BP PLC to take away Statoil's ability to terminate its import contract at Dominion Resources Inc.'s $3.4 billion planned liquefied natural gas facility in Maryland, citing the Energy Policy Act of 2005.

Statoil Natural Gas LLC said that the Energy Policy Act and the Natural Gas Act protect its proprietary agreement with Dominion for liquefied natural gas terminal import service at Dominion's Cove Point LNG facility.
