Enviro Group Blasts Pa. GOP's Lawsuit Intervention Bid

Law360, Philadelphia (June 14, 2013, 6:06 PM EDT) -- A Pennsylvania environmental group on Friday lashed out at a bid by the Republican caucuses of the state’s General Assembly to intervene in a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of a law diverting money from conservation programs and opening up state lands for natural gas drilling.

The Pennsylvania Environmental Defense Foundation said the Republicans had improperly claimed they had free reign under a provision of the state’s Constitution guaranteeing residents the right to clean air and pure water to enact whatever environmental policies they saw fit, instead of being themselves bound by the provision.
