New Fla. Law Quashes Local Paid Sick Leave Initiatives

Law360, Miami (June 17, 2013, 5:33 PM EDT) -- Florida Governor Rick Scott on Friday signed into law a bill blocking local governments from mandating that employers provide paid sick leave, making an upcoming Orange County referendum on the issue moot.

Scott signed H.B. 655, which prohibits political subdivisions from requiring employers to provide employment benefits that are not required by federal or state law.
