Legislators Tackle Equal Pay, Discrimination Issues

Law360, New York (January 24, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- U.S. legislators aimed to put civil rights at the forefront of Capitol Hill business on Thursday, as they weighed in on a bill regarding back pay for women and reintroduced a second bill meant to ensure that federal tax dollars are not used to encourage discrimination.

The Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee held a hearing regarding the Fair Pay Restoration Act, which was introduced last year following the U.S. Supreme Court's decision in Ledbetter v. Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.
