TVA Fined Over Nuke Plant Construction Lapses

Law360, New York (June 19, 2013, 2:50 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission on Wednesday said it would fine the Tennessee Valley Authority $70,000 for failing to take required steps to ensure components used in the $4 billion construction of a new unit at the Watts Bar Nuclear Plant in Tennessee were of sufficient quality.

The NRC said it identified three violations related to the so-called commercial grade dedication program during the construction of Watts Bar Unit 2, scheduled for completion in December 2015.
