Sens. Float Immigration Amendment To Up Border Security

Law360, Los Angeles (June 20, 2013, 8:22 PM EDT) -- U.S. Sens. John Hoeven, R-N.D., and Bob Corker, R-Tenn., introduced an amendment on Thursday to the comprehensive immigration reform bill that would double the number of agents on the Mexican border and require a new security plan before immigrants living in the U.S. illegally could be eligible for permanent residence.

The new amendment comes the same day as the Senate voted 54-43 to table a “Results” amendment introduced by Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, which would have required the government to show it was apprehending 90 percent...
