FDA Approves Plan B One-Step For Women Of All Ages

Law360, Los Angeles (June 20, 2013, 8:58 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration said Thursday that it has approved the use of Plan B One-Step as a nonprescription product available for all women of “child-bearing potential,” resolving a 12-year battle for over-the-counter status of the emergency contraceptive.

The announcement comes just a week after a New York federal judge said the U.S. Department of Justice’s proposal to provide Plan B emergency contraception without a prescription complied with an earlier order to make all levonorgestrel-based contraceptives available without age or prescription requirements.
