Philly Loses Bid To Toss Union's Suit Over Furlough Rule

Law360, Philadelphia (June 21, 2013, 2:28 PM EDT) -- A Pennsylvania federal judge on Wednesday allowed a union's challenge to a new regulation letting Philadelphia impose unlimited furloughs on city workers to advance, rejecting arguments that the issue was not ready for review.

U.S. District Judge Berle Schiller concluded that a suit brought by the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, District 47 claiming that Civil Service Rule 16 was unconstitutional was ripe for review.
