White House Seeks Ways To Better Enforce ITC Import Bans

Law360, New York (June 21, 2013, 6:36 PM EDT) -- The Obama administration said Thursday that it plans to examine ways to improve the enforcement of U.S. International Trade Commission import bans on products found to infringe intellectual property, including possibly giving rights holders a greater role in the process.

In a Federal Register notice, U.S. Intellectual Property Enforcement Coordinator Victoria Espinel asked for public comments on how to ensure that the procedures used by U.S. Customs and Border Protection to evaluate ITC exclusion orders are "transparent, effective, and efficient."
