USDA OKs Label For Meat Made Without GMO Feed

Law360, New York (June 21, 2013, 6:10 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Agriculture is allowing companies to put a label on meat and liquid egg products that claims they were not made using animals given genetically engineered feed, the agency said Friday.

To use the label, companies must meet a third-party certifier's standards for the use of a diet composed of nongenetically engineered ingredients, according to the USDA. The label is similar to the one approved by the agency for organic products.
