South Korean Court Upholds Qualcomm, Intel Antitrust Fines

Law360, San Diego (June 21, 2013, 5:44 PM EDT) -- A South Korean court on Wednesday reportedly rejected Qualcomm Inc.'s bid to toss a fine from the country's antitrust regulator for alleged unfair licensing practices related to chip-set sales and a petition by Intel Corp. to nix its fine for allegedly handing out rebates to computer makers.

The Seoul High Court denied Qualcomm's petition, allowing the fine of 273.2 billion won ($236 million) by the Korea Fair Trade Commission to stand, according to Yonhap News Agency. The court also refused Intel's attempt to overturn the KFTC's 2008 fine against it for 26 billion won, according to Yonhap.
