DC Circ. Upholds Pilot Age Limit Law As Constitutional

Law360, New York (June 21, 2013, 8:19 PM EDT) -- The D.C. Circuit on Friday refused to strike down a 2007 federal statute extending the age limit for commercial flight pilots from 60 to 65, finding the law's nonretroactivity provision was rationally related to minimizing potential labor relations disruption in the airline industry.

The appeals court said trial judges did not err by dismissing two lawsuits in which pilots who were over 60 when the Fair Treatment for Experienced Pilots Act was enacted on Dec. 13, 2007, alleged the law violated their equal protection rights. The...
