Green Groups Sue Government Over Colorado Drilling

Law360 (January 25, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- In an effort to protect one of the last untouched areas of the San Juan Basin in Colorado, environmental groups sued the U.S. government on Wednesday seeking the revocation of permits issued in April to two energy companies to drill in the mountains.

The U.S. Forest Service and the U.S. Bureau of Land Management gave two companies, Petrox Energy Corp. and Elm Ridge Resources Inc., permission to find and drill for coal-bed methane, a form of natural gas that can be extracted from coal beds....
