High Court Leaves FTC Ban On $76M Polypore Merger In Place

Law360, New York (June 24, 2013, 12:17 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Supreme Court refused Monday to review the Federal Trade Commission's decision forcing Polypore International Inc. to unwind its $76 million acquisition of Microporous Products LP despite Polypore's claims that the antitrust watchdog should face a tougher standard to block mergers of potential competitors.

The justices denied Polypore's petition for a writ of certiorari on the Eleventh Circuit's ruling upholding the divestiture order, putting an end to the company's five-year battle to hold onto the rival battery component maker.
