Pa. Landowners Slam Fracking Post-Drilling Deductions

Law360, Philadelphia (June 27, 2013, 2:25 PM EDT) -- Advocates for Pennsylvania landowners who have entered into natural gas leases on Thursday urged the state’s General Assembly to crack down on energy companies that have been taking “extraordinary” post-production costs out of royalty payments.

In a Senate Environmental Resources and Energy Committee hearing, public officials, lobbyists and an attorney raised concerns that certain energy companies were gouging leaseholders, and pushed for a number of legislative fixes, ranging from greater transparency on royalty checks to legislation prohibiting the post-production deductions.
