Big Cos. May See Higher Cartel Fines In Germany

Law360, New York (June 25, 2013, 8:12 PM EDT) -- Germany's antitrust watchdog published new cartel fining guidelines Tuesday in order to comply with a recent decision from the country's supreme court, a move the agency said could lead to higher penalties for large companies.

The German Federal Cartel Office adjusted its guidelines to put a greater emphasis on the size of a company. While the agency does not expect fine levels to change significantly overall, it pointed out that the shift could mean lower penalties for smaller companies and higher fines for bigger firms....
