Travelers Beats Bad Faith Claim In Ala. Pollution Suit

Law360, New York (June 26, 2013, 12:30 PM EDT) -- An Alabama federal judge ruled Tuesday that Travelers Casualty and Surety Co. didn't act in bad faith by denying coverage to Alabama Gas Corp. even after federal regulators alerted the company that it could be responsible for a polluted site.

The decision came six months after a ruling from the state's Supreme Court that said a potentially responsible party, or PRP, letter from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency did indeed legally require Travelers to begin covering Alagasco's defenses.
