HHS Finalizes Rule For Hospice, Care Facility Agreements

Law360, New York (June 26, 2013, 5:38 PM EDT) -- A division of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on Wednesday revealed a final rule mandating that nursing facilities in the Medicare program craft written agreements with Medicare-certified hospice providers specifying each entity's roles and responsibilities when a resident elects hospice care.


HHS' Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services said in the Thursday, June 27 edition of the Federal Register that it was adopting the final rule to improve quality and consistency of care between long-term care facilities and hospice providers.
