$1.3B Renewable Energy Power Line Proposed For Germany

Law360, New York (June 27, 2013, 1:04 PM EDT) -- European transmission system operators 50Hertz Transmission GmbH and Amprion GmbH are teaming up to invest more than €1 billion ($1.3 billion) in a long-distance power line that will transfer renewable energy across Germany, according to a Wednesday statement.

Stretching 279 miles across the eastern side of Germany, the line will use high-voltage, direct current lines to transfer energy from wind farms near Saxon-Anhalt to southern Bavaria. If all goes as planned, the project should come online by 2022, according to a statement.
