Obama Picks Ex-Colo. Utility Regulator To Lead FERC

Law360, New York (June 28, 2013, 2:01 PM EDT) -- President Barack Obama on Thursday tapped Ron Binz, Colorado's former chief utility regulator and a clean energy advocate, to serve as chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, replacing outgoing Chairman Jon Wellinghoff.

Obama nominated Binz, who served as chairman of the Colorado Public Utilities Commission from 2007 to 2011, to a post on the five-person commission with the intent of making him chairman if he's confirmed by the U.S. Senate.
