Pa. Lawmaker Seeks To Curb Post-Production Drilling Fees

Law360, New York (June 28, 2013, 7:01 PM EDT) -- Pennsylvania Rep. Jesse White, D-Allegheny, said Friday that he intends to introduce legislation to protect the royalty payments of landowners who lease their oil and gas rights, a response to public outcry over high “post-production” costs energy companies deduct from royalty payments.

White said that his proposed legislation would more clearly stipulate that lessees shall not deduct from royalties paid to landowners any severance taxes, impact fees or applicable fees charged by any state agency or department, or any so-called post-production costs. The new language would...
