AGs Join DOJ Probe Of Planned American, US Airways Merger

Law360, New York (July 1, 2013, 11:19 PM EDT) -- Nineteen attorneys general have joined the U.S. Department of Justice's antitrust review of the planned $11 billion merger between American Airlines Inc. and US Airways Group Inc., amid concerns about hub closures and reduced competition in each state, according to news reports Monday.

Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott is leading the group of attorneys general joining the probe, according to The Associated Press. Other states joining the probe include New York, California and Florida, confidential sources told Reuters.
