GM Settles Trademark Suit With Chinese Car Maker

Law360, New York (November 21, 2005, 12:00 AM EST) -- As U.S. companies become increasingly focused on protecting their intellectual property rights in China, one of the most watched trademark and trade secrets disputes between an American company and a Chinese company has been settled.

A joint venture between General Motors and South Korea’s Daewoo and China's Chery Automobile Co. Ltd have reached an undisclosed settlement in a three-year saga that began when GM Daewoo accused Chery of blatantly knocking off its car designs.
