Consumers Urge Fed. Circ. To Strike Down Stem Cell Patent

Law360, New York (July 2, 2013, 7:20 PM EDT) -- Human embryonic stem cells are not eligible for patent protection because they are a “product of nature,” a consumer group told the Federal Circuit on Tuesday, arguing that a stem cell patent held by the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation should be declared invalid.
