Apple Sues Customs Over Tariffs On IPad Covers

Law360, New York (July 2, 2013, 6:09 PM EDT) -- Apple Inc. lodged a lawsuit Tuesday against Customs and Border Protection that claimed the agency improperly classified 11 shipments of iPad covers, allegedly sticking the computer giant with higher tariff rates.

In a complaint filed at the U.S. Court of International Trade, Apple said Customs mislabeled the shipments of iPad 2 Smart Covers under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States, meaning the products got tariff rates ranging from 5.3 percent to 7 percent.
