AT&T Hacker Asks 3rd Circ. To Undo IPad Hacking Conviction

Law360, New York (July 3, 2013, 7:35 PM EDT) -- A hacker convicted of gaining unauthorized access to AT&T Inc. servers and stealing the email addresses of more than 114,000 Apple iPad users has appealed his case to the Third Circuit, arguing that his access was not unauthorized because the website was open to the public.

An attorney for Andrew Auernheimer, head of the "security research" hacking group Goatse Security, said Wednesday that the trial court's verdict is dangerous for the future of the Web.
