Rambus Targeted Again In DRAM Patent Battle

Law360, New York (November 21, 2005, 12:00 AM EST) -- Although a judge dismissed Korean electronics maker Samsung’s patent infringement suit against Rambus, Samsung has found another way to take on the rival chip maker in court.

Alberta Telecommunications Research Centre, a non-profit organization that counts Samsung as a member, has filed a suit against Rambus, claiming the rights to some of Rambus' designs.

The suit alleges that Canadian research consortium TRLabs designed some of the elements covered by Rambus’ patents, and asks for ownership of two of the patents.
