Lawmakers Tell FEMA To Limit Flood Insurance Rate Hikes

Law360, New York (July 8, 2013, 7:09 PM EDT) -- Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., and 26 other U.S. representatives urged the Federal Emergency Management Agency on Wednesday to address steep rate hikes for flood insurance, calling them an "unintended consequence" of a flood insurance reform law that Waters championed.

Waters, the ranking member of the House Financial Services Committee, joined a bipartisan group of representatives from New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Louisiana, Florida, Mississippi and Alabama in asking FEMA Administrator Craig Fugate to search for an administrative fix.
