Countries Added To "Patent Prosecution Highway"

Law360, New York (January 29, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- Building on a program that aims to promote efficiency, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has set up new pilot programs with patent offices in Canada and Korea.

The two countries have been added to an ongoing USPTO initiative called the “Patent Prosecution Highway,” which aims to help patent applicants to receive corresponding patent awards more quickly and more efficiently in each country.

The program also works to facilitate information-sharing between patent offices, as part of a plan to reduce workload and improve patent quality....
