Antitrust Group Wants Cartel Fines Doubled

Law360, Los Angeles (July 8, 2013, 7:18 PM EDT) -- The American Antitrust Institute sent a letter to the United States Sentencing Commission on Monday, calling for the commission to reconsider a key portion of the formula it uses to calculate fines for antitrust offenses, which the AAI says is outdated.

The letter was sent pursuant to the USSC’s Federal Register notice requesting public comment published in May. The commission sought public comments on proposed priorities as part of its statutory authority and responsibility to analyze sentencing issues, including operation of the federal sentencing guidelines....
