Legal Jobs Suffer Biggest 1-Month Decline In 3 Years

Law360, New York (July 8, 2013, 7:14 PM EDT) -- The legal services sector lost 3,200 jobs between May and June, according to the most recent numbers from the U.S. Department of Labor, the biggest month-to-month decline in the profession in three years.

The seasonally adjusted numbers reported Friday by the DOL's Bureau of Labor Statistics comes after BigLaw made some notable attorney and staff reductions in recent weeks.

They include the June layoffs at Weil Gotshal & Manges LLP, which cut loose 60 lawyers and 110 staff, as well as at Jones Day, which laid off 65...
