Sens. Urge DOE Chief To Speed Up LNG Export Reviews

Law360, New York (July 10, 2013, 2:36 PM EDT) -- A bipartisan group of 34 U.S. senators on Tuesday urged Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz to fast-track his review of applications to export liquefied natural gas, saying the slow pace of approvals is hurting the nation’s ability to compete with other LNG-exporting nations.

The Department of Energy is weighing whether to approve several applications to ship LNG to countries with which the U.S. lacks free trade agreements. There are 20 such applications pending, the senators said in a letter to Moniz. The agency is still reviewing studies...
