UK Regulator Blocks Wockhardt European Drug Sales

Law360, New York (July 10, 2013, 2:31 PM EDT) -- The recent troubles for Indian drug manufacturer Wockhardt Ltd. continued Wednesday as a British regulator announced it was banning the company’s drugs in Europe due to manufacturing violations, a move that comes weeks after the U.S. issued its own import restrictions.

The U.K.’s Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency says that Wockhardt will be banned from making medicine for Europe following the agency’s determination that an Indian manufacturing facility was in violation of good manufacturing practices.
