Fla. High Court Says Redistricting Challenge Can Proceed

Law360, Miami (July 11, 2013, 7:33 PM EDT) -- The Florida Supreme Court on Thursday allowed a challenge to the state legislature's electoral redistricting plan to proceed in a trial court, ruling that the high court's approval of the plan last year does not preclude a legal challenge to the plan.

In a 5-2 decision, the high court denied the legislature's petition for a writ of prohibition and rejected the lawmakers' argument that the Supreme Court has exclusive jurisdiction on the issue under the state constitution.
