USTR Urges India To Amend Solar, Drug Rules

Law360, New York (July 12, 2013, 2:28 PM EDT) -- U.S. Trade Representative Michael Froman urged India on Thursday to alter policies that have angered the American business community in recent years, including preferences for domestic manufacturing and lax intellectual property rights for drugs.

The trade rep said the U.S. appreciated the Indian government's decision on Monday to scale back a rule that would have forced private companies to buy only Indian-made electronics, but reiterated that he was still “concerned about the investment and innovation environment in India.”
