House Energy Chairman Wants Study Of Nuke Export Policy

Law360, New York (July 12, 2013, 3:01 PM EDT) -- House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton, R-Mich., on Thursday asked the U.S. Government Accountability Office to probe how the Energy Department authorizes the export of civilian nuclear technology and services, saying increased exports would be a boon for U.S. companies and workers.

Upton, along with Oversight and Investigations subcommittee chairman Tim Murphy, R-Pa., want the GAO to examine how the DOE grants and monitors exports under Part 810 federal regulations, which empowers the agency to control the export of civilian nuclear technology and services....
