11th Circ. To Hear Challenge To Fla.'s 'Gun Gag' On Doctors

Law360, New York (July 16, 2013, 2:40 PM EDT) -- A “gun gag” law restricting doctors from asking patients about firearm ownership will get its first test in an appeals court Thursday, when the Eleventh Circuit hears Florida's appeal of a lower court's invalidation of the statute on First Amendment grounds.

At least five other states that are considering passing similar legislation will be watching the case closely to see how the federal appeals court rules, according to Ropes & Gray LLP partner Douglas Hallward-Driemeier, who is representing a group of physicians challenging the law....
