FDA To Work With WTO To Increase Global Sanitary Standards

Law360, New York (July 15, 2013, 2:59 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration said Monday that it had entered into a cooperative agreement with the World Trade Organization to fund the implementation of better food, animal and health safety standards in developing countries.

The FDA said it would provide a year of funding to the Standards and Trade Development Facility, a group established by the WTO, the World Health Organization, the World Bank and other groups to help poorer countries meet international sanitary and phytosanitary standards.
